This actually happened to an acquaintance of mine while she was playing through the first part of GSDD -- apparently she was fighting a slime monster and Garet spontaneously summoned Tiamat on it, lulz.

Lol, I don't remember much of my first (and only) playthrough of Dark Dawn (as I gave right back to Game Stop after beating it since it was such a disappointment and didn't live up to its predecessors "reputation" I guess one would say) but I can see this happening and I definitely see either Issac or Garet doing this.
